MASTERCLASS 06 Sessions

The training program takes the participants through a structured journey, where each step prepares them for the next step.

The program uses the KNOLedge 5P Approach© to Impactful Presentations as the foundation. This approach is based on years of experience of working with presentations and research. The 5Ps in the model conform to the triage of effective speaking as espoused by Aristotle, however with a modern twist to accommodate two new pillars of business presenting - slides and data.

PREAMBLE

The existing paradigm of
presentations is broken. Our assumptions and methods are wrong. The participants ascertain the root cause of the problem and address it.

PLAN

To plan is to succeed; the right approach and tools are understood and most importantly the wrong assumptions are busted.

PREPARE

Preparation involves working on the message and the data that must be used as evidence to
support and strengthen the
message.

PACKAGE

Packaging a presentation is more than graphic design,
it also understanding how we consume and retain information.
It’s the coming together of the craft with science.

PRESENT

Presenting the message to an
audience involves knowing voice
control, body language and the
ability to satisfactorily answer
tough questions.

Learning Objectives

Conceptually, the learning objectives are divided across three buckets in the program:

Foundation

Things you don't know you don't know

This bucket covers the elements that are necessary for the participants to know even before they can start their journey of becoming good presenters.

In this bucket we will cover:
‣ Understand how most people process information
‣ Know the triage of effective speaking
‣ Understand the setting, channel and objectives of a business presentation

Fundamentals

Things you know you don't know

This bucket covers two dimensions - one, the aspect of slide design and two, creating a compelling business story.

In this bucket we will cover:
‣ Organise their ideas into a logical flow structure
‣ Develop and customise a presentation for any audience
‣ Use data to support their narrative

Function

Things you must do

This is where we put the knowledge to use and apply the newly acquired skills. The participants practise the design of slides and also the delivery of their presentation.

In this bucket we will cover:
‣ Use eye contact, gestures, and body language for maximum effect
‣ Use humour and other techniques to bring the engage and interact with the audience
‣ Adapt your delivery session for the virtual world

Practise Sessions (with video recording) are integrated into the training program, thus providing the participants an opportunity to instantly apply the newly acquired skills in a controlled, risk-free environment. This opportunity to apply and seek instant feedback enhances the quality of learning and retention.

THE ADULT LEARNING CONTINUUM

Methodology

Adult learning has its nuances and we understand for skills training to be successful, the participants must know the WHY before the HOW.
The methodology for the facilitation of this workshop is a distillation of years of experience and learning from the track. Therefore all our programs progress the participants through the following continuum.

The methodology is learner-centred, drawing on the concepts of adult learning, learning styles and multiple intelligences. The approach is hands-on and experiential,
which combines the three key elements of learn-by-doing.

Each of the sessions will be followed by two activities

In each 90 to 120-minute masterclass, we'll be followed by:

  • An exercise, where the participants will work on some small minor project, for example pick up three to five of their existing slides and re-visualise it as per the learnings of the Data Visualisation session. This must be submitted to the facilitator within the timeline and a score will be awarded. 
  • A challenge, where the participants will receive raw-data from the facilitator and the participants will have to create redesigned slides or reworked flows from it, and submit it to the facilitator within the time frame. A winner will be announced and will be awarded extra points to add to the overall score.

YOUR PRESENTER
